The Golden State Warriors ‘ win over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday was overshadowed by the fact that Klay Thompson rode on the bench in the final 7:19 of the game. He has said his piece about not closing the contest, as has Draymond Green and Steve Kerr.
Retired big man Kendrick Perkins also shared his two cents about the situation, calling on the front office to find a new home for the five-time All-Star.
From a star to a spectator
The Warriors didn’t have the best game against the Nets. They shot just 4-for-22 from beyond the arc, with no one but Stephen Curry sinking a 3-point shooter. To compensate for all those bricks from long distance, Golden State employed a stout defense to limit Brooklyn from reaching 100.
Still, the story of the night was Steve Kerr’s decision to play a rookie who had just eight regular-season appearances in the NBA under his belt instead of Thompson late in the fourth quarter. The Dubs’ closing lineup in recent contests has usually included Thompson.
