Woman, 40, using mobility walker shot & killed in front of California liquor store; Man, 47, shot

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Eden Township Substation (ETS) detectives are actively investigating a tragic homicide that unfolded last night, Friday, February 9, 2024, at approximately 9:47 p.m. The incident took place on E. 14th Street near 151st Avenue in Unincorporated San Leandro.

Detectives were called to the scene after ETS patrol deputies, officers from the San Leandro Police Department, and medical services responded to reports of a subject down in the roadway, deputies said. Upon arrival, they discovered a 47-year-old male and a 40-year-old woman, the latter of whom had a mobility impairment, both suffering from gunshot wounds, according to investigators.

Emergency medical services were administered at the scene before both victims were swiftly transported to a local hospital. Tragically, the 40-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries and did not survive, investigators said.

Based on preliminary information, it appears that the shooting transpired during a verbal dispute between the suspect and the victims, deputies said. The nature of the dispute and the relationship between the parties involved are yet to be disclosed. The ACSO emphasizes that, as of now, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety.
