Chiefs beat 49ers in overtime to win wild Super Bowl 2024

The dynasty continues.

Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs on a 75-yard touchdown drive in overtime, finding Mecole Hardman for a 3-yard touchdown to win Super Bowl 2024, 25-22.

The 49ers had started overtime on offense, and Jake Moody’s 27-yard field goal gave them a 22-19 lead.

Trailing 19-16 with 1:53 left in the game, Mahomes led the Chiefs deep into 49ers territory before Harrison Butker nailed a 29-yard field goal to tie the game 19-19 with just three seconds left in regulation.

It came after Brock Purdy led a late 49ers drive into Chiefs territory before Moody drilled a 53-yard field goal with 1:53 left in the game to put San Francisco up 19-16.

The 49ers took a 10-3 lead into halftime thanks to a trick-play touchdown in the second quarter, with receiver Jauan Jennings hitting Christian McCaffrey for a 21-yard score.

San Francisco first took the lead 12 seconds into the second quarter, when Moody recorded the longest field goal in Super Bowl history at 55 yards.
