The National Weather Service’s San Francisco Bay Area office has announced the return of rain to the region, with a series of systems expected to bring precipitation throughout the week.
The first wave of rain is set to arrive on Wednesday and gradually taper off by Thursday morning, offering much-needed moisture to the area.
In the short term, forecasters anticipate mostly beneficial rain, with increased coverage and intensity during the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday. Rainfall amounts are expected to vary across different regions, ranging from 0.75-1.25 inches in coastal ranges, 0.50-1.00 inches in the North Bay Valleys and interior hills, and 0.50 inches or less south of the Golden Gate.
Looking into the long term, a pair of stronger systems is projected to impact the region over the weekend and potentially extend into the following week. The second system, forecasted for late Friday, is expected to bring more widespread rain, intensifying by Saturday morning. During this period, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is anticipated before conditions begin to taper off Saturday night.
