Man’s body found floating on Oakland Estuary

( KRON ) — Crews discovered a body that was floating on the Oakland Estuary Wednesday morning, the Oakland Fire Department confirmed. The body was located a little after 11 a.m. near 5th and Embarcadero.

The body was a man estimated between 40 and 50 years old, OFD said. There was no evidence of foul play, and no one in the area appeared to recognize the man.

An Alameda County coroner is expected to arrive at the scene and investigate. As of 1:30 p.m., OFD crews have left the scene.

The identity of the deceased man is being withheld until the next of kin is notified, the Oakland Police Department said.

A few weeks earlier, a body was found in an Oakland waterway near the Coliseum. Police did not state whether or not foul play was involved.
