Map shows storm system moving toward California coast

Weather maps showing the storm system moving along the coast of the San Francisco Bay Area reveal a large wave of rain and wind headed toward the region.

Back-to-back storms will hammer Northern California through Wednesday, bringing up to six inches of rain to some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents experienced some relief on Thursday after a grey and wet day on Wednesday but the next weather system could move in as soon as Friday night, forecasters said.

The North Bay will experience the worst of the storm with four to six inches of rain predicted for Santa Rosa over the next five days. San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland can expect about once inch of rain on Saturday, according to the NWS, and another two inches between Sunday and Wednesday.

Flood advisories are in place for the entire Bay Area and Central Coast from Sunday to Wednesday. Experts are also warning about the possibility of landslides as the ground is already soaked from the last round of bad weather in the area.
