Critical California highway to close over four weekends; Detour could take an extra hour for drivers

Get ready, Bay Area commuters! Caltrans is gearing up for the SR-37 Paving Project, a comprehensive pavement repair initiative set to take place on State Route 37 (SR-37) from SR-29 (Vallejo) to SR-121 (Sonoma) over four consecutive weekends, beginning on April 12, 2024.

The ambitious project aims to address critical pavement issues on SR-37, and to facilitate the necessary repairs, full 55-hour closures will be implemented over the specified weekends. The closures will commence on Fridays at 9 pm and conclude on Mondays at 4 am.

Westbound SR-37 will experience closures on the weekends of April 12 and April 19, while eastbound SR-37 closures are scheduled for the weekends of April 26 and May 3. Detour routes will be clearly marked for both directions, and the success of the closures is contingent on weather conditions.

The SR-37 Paving Project is a crucial step in maintaining and enhancing the safety and reliability of this key transportation artery. Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly, considering the temporary closures during the specified weekends.
