SF woman sentenced for stealing $40K from Walgreens, Sephora

(KRON) – A woman was sentenced to two years in prison after stealing over $40,000 worth of products from several San Francisco retail stores, the city’s District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said on Friday.

Savannah Church, 25, was allegedly part of an organized group that committed a series of snatch-and-grab thefts from Walgreens, Sephora, and Bath & Body Works stores in San Francisco from April 23 to September 15 in 2023, Jenkins said.

According to Jenkins, Church and others entered the store as a group, rapidly grabbed and concealed merchandise and quickly exited the store without paying for any of the merchandise. Prosecutors also allege that Church assaulted a person who attempted to stop her from robbing someone on the street.

According to Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Zudekoff, the San Francisco Police Department investigated and reviewed over a dozen incidents, most of which involved the theft of thousands of dollars in merchandise, including the assault.

“Almost every day, citizens of San Francisco, as well as store employees across the city, have to
bear witness to these brazen thefts,” said Zudekoff. “This prosecution was successful because of the cooperation of victims, witnesses, store employees, and the fantastic investigation work of the San Francisco Police Department.”
