Man stabbed in front of San Francisco church

( KRON ) – A person was stabbed in front of a church on Sunday afternoon in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) said.

According to witnesses, a homeless man walked into Saint Peter & Paul Church and was removed by church members around 1 p.m. during a church service.

One of the members and the unhoused individual began an altercation. The altercation resulted in the church member being stabbed, according to witnesses.

The victim, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital. According to President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors Aaron Peskin, the victim is stable.

SFPD arrested a man in connection to the stabbing. No other information about the suspect was released at this time.

Saint Peter & Paul Church is located at 666 Filbert St.
