San Francisco is infamous for being one of the most expensive cities in the country, and affordable housing can be extremely difficult to come by. Not to say that there aren’t any affordable options out there, but, well… if you’ve ever tried house hunting on a tight budget in a high-cost-of-living area, you’ll know that suspiciously cheap housing often comes at a different kind of cost.

Take this chic 11,000-square-foot, three-bed, two-bath home on the market in San Francisco’s upscale Russian Hill neighborhood. At $488,000, it’s dirt cheap by San Fran standards- but there’s a big catch that will make all but the most patient buyers balk.

But of course, there’s a big, big catch.

That catch? The property is currently tenant-occupied, and they’re in no rush to move. According to the listing, the buyer won’t be able to move in until 2053 – another three decades from now. In the meantime, the current tenant will continue to live there and pay their current monthly rent, a cool $417 a month. If I had a deal like that, I wouldn’t leave either!
