‘King Tides’ to inundate low-lying coastal California communities with minor flood waters

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for San Francisco, the North Bay Interior Valleys, and San Francisco Bay Shoreline Counties, effective until 11 PM PDT Wednesday.

Minor coastal flooding is expected in these regions due to rising tidal levels caused by higher astronomical tides.

Low-lying areas within the San Francisco Bay Area may experience flooding, particularly during high tide. The flooding is likely to affect lots, parks, and roads, though only isolated road closures are anticipated.

Residents and travelers in the affected areas are advised to allow extra time for travel, as some roads may be closed. It is important not to drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Those with properties prone to flooding should take necessary precautions to protect their assets.

The advisory aims to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions caused by the minor coastal flooding expected in the region.
