Hercules traffic stop leads to fentanyl and meth: police

( KRON ) — A traffic stop in Hercules found a man on probation in possession of narcotics and a “substantial” amount of cash, the Hercules Police Department announced Tuesday.

Police pulled over a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 truck and contacted the 41-year-old male driver. The driver, who lives in Vallejo, was found to be on probation in Contra Costa and Solano counties, authorities said.

Officers conducted a probation search of the vehicle. Located inside were 10 pounds of suspected marijuana, a quarter pound of suspected fentanyl and 5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, according to Hercules PD.

“Each substance had individually portioned product in small amounts,” police said.

Also located was a “substantial amount of cash rubber banded” and a scale with more empty new bags, HPD said.

The Vallejo man was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. The vehicle was towed for a registration violation, police said, and the cash was “taken for safekeeping.”
