San Francisco temperatures expected to hit mid-90s Tuesday

SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — An excessive heat warning has been issued for San Francisco, with the National Weather Service warning of “dangerous, life-threatening heat.” Temperatures in the city are expected to hit the mid-90s Tuesday as a heat wave envelopes the Bay Area .

The excessive heat warning goes into effect at 10 a.m. Tuesday and lasts through 11 p.m. Wednesday. Coastal highs are expected to hit the mid-90s with the highest temperatures expected in the city’s eastern neighborhoods.

The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management is urging residents to be heat aware. Precautions recommended by the SF DEM include drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and sports drinks with excess sugar.

With indoor temperatures potentially climbing 10 degrees higher than outdoor temperatures, the DEM recommends frequently checking on family and friends, especially those who live alone or are vulnerable to heat illness.
