The incident was reported to SFTMA officials on Thursday.

Upon further investigation, five machines were found to have the deceptive stickers, said SFMTA. Officials said the scam aimed to redirect users to a fake payment site, but the URL associated with these QR codes has been disabled.

The SFMTA urges the public to stay vigilant and avoid scanning any QR codes from parking machines.
