( KRON ) — A popular decades-old San Francisco restaurant is expanding to the East Bay. Original Joe’s is opening a Walnut Creek location in 2025, the restaurant told KRON4.
Original Joe’s is set to open at 1300 S Main St. between March and May of next year, according to the project planner for the City of Walnut Creek Simir Gill. The restaurant is currently under construction as they are working to add a second floor.

The upcoming Walnut Creek location marks the first time the Italian-American restaurant will be in the East Bay since the original establishment opened in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood in 1937.
Original Joe’s has since opened a restaurant in Daly City’s Westlake neighborhood. There is also currently a North Beach restaurant at 601 Union St.
Original Joe’s will be located where Stanford’s Restaurant and Bar was — right in front of Macy’s at Broadway Plaza and S Main Street. Stanford’s reportedly closed back in 2019.
