The Oakland Zoo’s beloved black bear, Tejon, is on the mend after undergoing dental surgery to treat an infection in his fractured tooth. Tejon, who had a root canal on his upper canine last year, experienced another setback when the tip of the same tooth broke, leading to a painful infection.
After a CT scan revealed that surgery could save the tooth, veterinary dental specialists from Texas A&M University stepped in to remove the infected portion while preserving the rest. Tejon is now recovering on a soft diet to protect his stitches and aid in healing.
The zoo staff and visitors alike are wishing Tejon a speedy recovery as he gets back to full health!
