Bay City News

A rookie deputy with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office on Friday made an arrest of a suspect wanted for multiple warrants and allegedly discovered him in possession of a firearm, the office said Saturday.

On Friday at about 11 p.m., the new deputy was patrolling along the coast near Half Moon Bay when he made a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation.

After running the driver’s information, the deputy discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for criminal threats/hate crime and a disorderly conduct allegation. Additional deputies were called to the scene and an investigation uncovered a fully loaded and unregistered semi-automatic firearm in the vehicle.

Jason Quiros, 52, of El Granada, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an unregistered firearm and for his warrants.
