Ukrainian military musicians to express gratitude for US aid in concerts November 16-17

Cultural Forces, a group of seven professional musicians from Ukraine’s military, will give free concerts in San Francisco on November 16 and in San Jose on November 17. The concerts mark the end of the group’s second two-month tour across the United States.

The November 16 concert will take place in the Ukrainian Event Center and Music Hall on 345 Seventh Street in San Francisco at 6:00 pm. The November 17 concert will be in the SJZ Break Room on 310 South First Street in San Jose at 5:00 pm.

“World class musicians, Ukraine’s brightest talents, participated in some of the fiercest battles of the war. Several were wounded but after recovery returned to active duty. The group is composed of two bandura players, an opera singer, a violinist, a pianist, a country singer, and a poet,” says the Cultural Forces website. It says the concert is intended to “thank the American people for their thoughts and action for Ukraine at war.”

The bandura players are Taras Stoliar, a reconnaissance operative, and Liubov Shipiliuk, a frontline volunteer.
