The 1,000 striking hotel workers at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with the hotelier, according to Unite Here Local 2.
The union said it will vote Saturday on ratifying the new contract, the same day in which their peers at Marriott hotels throughout San Francisco returned to work.
Should the Hyatt workers ratify the deal, the 650 Hilton workers at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square will be the last remaining hotel employees striking in The City.
“San Francisco hotel workers have demonstrated extraordinary courage to protect their families and their health care,” said Lizzy Tapia, the union president. “Hyatt and Marriott did the right thing, and now all eyes are on Hilton.”
In a win for San Francisco Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie, who worked the phone after his victory at the ballot box to try to bring hotel owners and striking employees together, union workers voted overwhelmingly to accept a contract at Marriott hotels in The City on Thursday.
