Man arrested for allegedly stealing $1,000 in merchandise from San Mateo Macy’s

SAN MATEO, California — A suspect was arrested after allegedly stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from Macy’s at the Hillsdale Shopping Center, according to the San Mateo Police Department.On December 23, 2024, at 11:15 p.m., San Mateo Police Department officers responded to a call from a Macy’s Loss Prevention Agent regarding a theft in progress. The suspect, identified as Amberly Pennock, was detained by Macy’s employees as she exited the store. Officers determined that Pennock had stolen multiple items totaling over $1,000, which were found in her possession and returned to Macy’s. Pennock was arrested for grand theft and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.The San Mateo Police Department urges community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. “If you see a suspicious person, vehicle, or activity, call SMPD. Trust your instincts. See Something, Say Something,” stated the department.
