Gunshot victim dies Friday after Oakland shooting

( KRON ) — A gunshot victim succumbed to injuries early Friday morning after being shot just before midnight on Thursday, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Authorities responded to the 2200 block of East 12th Street just before 12 a.m. on the report of a shooting. Arriving officers found a victim with at least one gunshot wound, OPD said.

Paramedics transported the patient to an area hospital in critical condition. Hours later, at around 5:45 a.m., the victim was pronounced deceased.

Oakland PD’s Homicide Section detectives were sent to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Authorities did not reveal any potential suspects or arrests in connection to the killing.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending a positive identification and notification to next of kin, police said.
