S.F. man in life-threatening condition after being bludgeoned in head with wooden table leg

A person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being beaten with a wooden table leg during an altercation in San Francisco, police officials said.

Police officials responded to the scene of an aggravated assault around 2 p.m. Tuesday on the 500 block of Hyde Street in the Tenderloin, where they found a victim suffering from injuries sustained in the attack.

The victim was allegedly struck in the head by a person with whom he was in a verbal altercation, officials said. Police said the two were arguing when the suspect left the area and returned with a wooden table leg, striking the victim in the head multiple times, officials said.

The man who was injured was 54 years old, officials said.

No arrests have been made in this case, officials said.
