Aldi expanding in California as part of nationwide strategy. What we know about new stores

Aldi this month announced plans to open more than 225 store locations in 2025 as part of its five-year national growth strategy, including significant expansions into Southern California.

The company did not immediately respond to an email asking what California cities would see stores as part of the ongoing expansion. In June 2024, the company opened a new store in Jurupa Valley, between Los Angeles and Palm Springs.

Aldi’s five-year national growth strategy also includes expanding to locations in Las Vegas and the Southeast coast while continuing to expand its footprint in the Midwest, the company said. By 2028, the chain expects to increase its footprint by 800 stores as part of a continuing expansion.

Aldi lists 108 stores in California on its website. There are 2,474 stores nationwide, the company says. California Aldi stores include locations in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Coachella, Ventura, Hesperia and Visalia.
