Hazardous leak shuts down parts of Interstate 80 in Solano County

(FOX40.COM) — A part of Interstate 80 in Solano County was closed for nearly two hours after a hazardous leak on the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 9:55 a.m., CHP announced that I-80 eastbound would be closed at SR-37 because of a hazmat situation. Additionally, I-80 westbound was closed at American Canyon Road and all traffic was diverted off the freeway.

Police said there was an ethanol leak coming a container inside a semi truck. Because ethanol is flammable, crews had to transfer it from one container to another. Photos taken at the scene show a fire engine and hazmat crews approaching the truck.
