San Bruno, CA – JCPenney has announced plans to shutter eight locations nationwide by mid-2025, including its store at the Shops at Tanforan in San Bruno. According to PEOPLE, most of the closures involve mall locations, such as Westfield Annapolis Mall (Maryland), Pine Ridge Mall (Pocatello, Idaho), West Ridge Mall (Topeka, Kansas), Fox Run Mall (Newington, New Hampshire), and Asheville Mall (North Carolina).
The remaining stores set to close are in shopping districts or town centers: Charleston Town Center (West Virginia), the Shops at Northfield (Denver, Colorado), and the San Bruno location.
A company spokesperson expressed gratitude to employees and shoppers, encouraging customers to continue visiting nearby stores or shop online at JCPenney.com.
