( KRON ) — Authorities on Tuesday released more details on the events that led up to Concord Police Department officers shooting at a Richmond man following a traffic stop last week.
On the night of Thursday, April 3, Concord police initiated a traffic stop on Ellis Street near Clayton Road. The driver of the involved Chrysler sedan was identified by law enforcement as Eric Darrall Foreman, 37, of Richmond. According to Concord PD, Foreman jumped out of the car before it came to a complete stop and took off running. The Chrysler continued in motion and crashed into another vehicle, police said.
A foot chase ensued before authorities said Foreman suddenly stopped in the PetSmart parking lot located at 1700 Willow Pass Road. There, he allegedly pulled a handgun out of his pants and turned toward the pursuing officer.
