San Francisco, California – Pea-sized hail and scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact much of the Bay Area through Saturday evening, bringing slick roads, dangerous lightning, and gusty winds to the Central Coast and nearby waters.
According to the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area office, the greatest risk for stronger storms and lightning strikes will stretch from Monterey Bay to coastal Marin County. Boaters and beachgoers are urged to stay alert as elevated seas and thunderstorm activity could create hazardous conditions offshore.
Localized gusts up to 40 mph may cause brief power outages and tree limb damage, while small hail could reduce visibility and create slippery driving conditions on highways including U.S. 101, CA-1, and I-280.
