( KRON ) — Bay Area video game producer Electronic Arts has reportedly laid off hundreds of workers and canceled an anticipated new title release. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the Redwood City-based company has cut between 300 and 400 jobs and canceled a game in the “Titanfall” universe.
The layoffs, according to the Chronicle, include roughly 100 jobs at Respawn Entertainment, an EA-owned studio behind games like “Apex Legends,” “Star Wars Jedi,” and “Titanfall.”

Respawn confirmed the job cuts and the decision to step away from “two early-stage incubation projects” in a social media post , calling the layoffs, “targeted team adjustments.”
“These decisions aren’t easy, and we are deeply grateful to every teammate affected,” the company said, “their creativity and contributions have helped rebuild Respawn into what it is today.”…
