Marin County Sheriff Announce Arrest of “Prolific” Elementary School Burglar

The Marin County Sheriffs Office announced the arrest of a Fairfield man in connection with a series of elementary school burglaries — including Contra Costa County

According to the sheriffs office, in February 2025, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious male loitering on an elementary school campus during a school-wide assembly. Following the assembly, several teachers discovered bank cards were missing from their wallets/purses stored inside their classrooms. The teachers soon received thousands of dollars of fraudulent charges on their stolen bank cards. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as 34-year-old Christopher Britton, of Fairfield.

As the investigation continued, Britton was discovered to have burglarized at least three other schools in Marin County, victimizing many more teachers. Britton was also found to have committed nearly identical burglaries of elementary schools in Alameda County and Contra Costa County as well. At the time of the burglaries, Britton was out on bail in Solano County for a series of residential burglaries…
