Man fatally shot near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf on Wednesday afternoon

One person died in a shooting Wednesday near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, officials said. The shooting happened around 1:10 p.m. in the area of Columbus Avenue and North Point Street, just south of In-N-Out and east of Ghirardelli Square, the San Francisco Police Department said in a news release.

Police said a man allegedly shot at another man inside a vehicle. The victim was unresponsive with gunshot wounds by the time police arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene. The man tied to the shooting turned himself in at the nearby SFPD station and was subsequently arrested, police said.

Emergency crews closed down several streets, including Leavenworth Street from Jefferson Street to Bay Street, North Point Street from Hyde Street to Jones Street and Columbus Avenue from Bay Street to Beach Street, according to the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management…
