The San Francisco Fire Department extinguished a deck fire Sunday at a high-rise apartment building downtown, which may have been sparked by discarded cigarettes, according to the agency.
Firefighters trekked to the 15th floor of The Metropolitan, a 26-floor luxury condo building, at 333 1st Street after a person living in the building reported a fire on the deck of their apartment, said Lt. Mariano Elias, a spokesperson for the fire department.
No one was injured or displaced in the one-alarm fire, and the smoke alarms did not go off inside the building because it was an exterior blaze, Elias said…
