Home Depot rival quietly closes its doors forever

After serving the community for 118 years, Pacific Heights Hardware is slated to shut down permanently by the end of May. The closure decision was made due to difficulties in generating enough revenue, as reported by local news outlet SFGate.

“We just didn’t have a lot of people coming by, and so it was just costing us more money than we were getting,” employee Lisa Schmid shared with SFGate.

Despite positive feedback from local customers about both owner Ammar Swalim and the store, as reported by the publication, Schmid pointed out that business hadn’t picked up over the last two years. “We were never extremely successful,” she commented.
