Sprawling emporium is returning home to San Francisco’s Mission District

San Francisco’s temple of furniture is coming home. Stuff, the bright orange, 16,500-square-foot furniture and antique store on Valencia Street, closed in 2024. Now, an even bigger version of store is returning to the Mission District, under a new owner and a slightly different name.

Stuff by Luxe, an offshoot of the original store, is setting up shop on Harrison Street across the street from Best Buy. Like the original Stuff store, Stuff by Luxe will host several vendors of mid-century modern home decor, vintage clothes and knickknacks — like a high-end flea market packed into a boxy building.

“It’s like going home,” Ha Kwan, Stuff by Luxe’s owner, told SFGATE last week. The store is slated to open on the weekend of Sept. 6, she said, although she cautioned that the date could be subject to change…
