Angry San Francisco parents push back on SFUSD ethnic studies: ‘Ideology over education’

Angry parents and a national education organization are pushing back on the San Francisco school district’s ethnic studies curriculum, which they argue is divisive and promotes progressive activism.

The national organization, Parents Defending Education, which seeks to protect schools from “activists imposing harmful agendas,” published an “incident” report just over a week ago on SFUSD’s ethnic studies curriculum, one of several recent challenges, district officials said. Parents Defending Education could not be reached for comment.

At the same time, some San Francisco parents have started to raise their voices about the curriculum, now that students — starting with the 2024-25 freshman class — are required to take two semesters of ethnic studies to graduate…
