Quintessential San Francisco eatery abruptly calls it quits after 40 years

An old-school dining institution overlooking San Francisco’s Embarcadero has abruptly closed its doors after four decades in business.

Known for its eclectic menu, long, U-shaped countertops and starring role in the 1993 comedy “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” Fog City (formerly Fog City Diner) is calling it quits after serving its last meal on Friday, owners announced on social media, calling it “the end of an era.”
