Man charged with felony hit-and-run that hospitalized 5-year-old in S.F.

A man was charged with a felony after hitting and injuring a 5-year-old girl and her mother in the Outer Richmond neighborhood last month, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced Friday.

Jonathan Tyler Lam, 35, was charged Thursday with one count of leaving the scene of an accident with an allegation that the collision resulted in serious injury to the victim, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Lam was turning left onto 31st Avenue in the evening of May 24 when he struck the child and her mother. The 5-year-old had been riding her bike in the crosswalk at 31st Avenue and Clement Street, with her mother just behind her walking, when Lam hit them while driving a rental Jeep Wagoneer, the district attorney’s office said…
