Popular clothing store leaving S.F.’s downtown mall

Zara has shuttered its store in San Francisco Centre, adding to a relentless exodus, though the clothing retailer is also opening a new flagship in nearby Union Square.

Zara’s 27,500-square-foot space had been one of the largest remaining stores in the city’s biggest mall. Both Zara and San Francisco Centre have removed the location from their websites. Zara’s lease had been set to expire in early 2027.

Zara’s new 40,000-square-foot flagship is set to open at 400 Post St. next year, replacing a smaller store at nearby 250 Post St. Zara also operates at Stonestown Galleria, which has been outperforming downtown…
