Watch: Robbery suspects drive against Bay Bridge traffic before crash

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco police on Thursday released intense drone video of robbery suspects driving through Bay Bridge traffic in the wrong direction, crashing, and taking off on foot before being apprehended.

On July 4, two suspects wanted for their alleged involvement in multiple auto burglaries and a robbery were spotted by San Francisco Police Department plainclothes officers. Authorities deployed a drone into the air, which followed a vehicle occupied by the two suspects.

While police were looking into ways to disable the vehicle and arrest the suspects, the suspect vehicle drove onto the Bay Bridge’s lower span heading eastbound. The police drone continued to follow the vehicle.

The suspect driver then made a U-turn and began to weave through eastbound traffic in the westbound direction. Drone video released by SFPD shows the vehicle whizzing past dozens of vehicles on the enclosed roadway.

After the driver crashes into other vehicles near the Essex Street on-ramp, the two suspects get out and begin to run. One suspect was immediately caught and detained. The other continued to run down the ramp and onto Harrison Street with the drone following. Eventually, the second suspect is also arrested…
