A former Bay Area resident has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for attacking a deputy U.S. marshal trying to take him into custody on a weapons charge, federal prosecutors announced.
Jeffrey Adam Crum, 34, struck the deputy in the head in November 2024 when the officer tried to move him to his holding cell after Crum appeared in federal court Utah, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California. A federal grand jury indicted him the next month.
“Specifically, Crum resisted instructions by Deputy U.S. Marshals to enter and exit an elevator that would take him to a holding cell, forcing them to carry him,” the agency said in a news release Friday. “At one point, Crum kicked his legs out, striking a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the head.”…
