San Francisco loses beloved pet

San Francisco has lost one of its internet icons and beloved pets. Alex the Great, a 28-pound Flemish Giant rabbit, has died. He was 4 years old. Alex’s owner Kei Kato shared the news of Alex’s death in an Instagram story for the bunny on Monday morning, the latest and saddest update of the myriad health issues Kato had been sharing in recent weeks.

“His legacy will go on forever and will continue his work,” Kato’s post on Monday shortly after Alex’s death said. “Alex fought really hard between cancer and the anesthesia issue. He was doing fine yesterday and I think that he wanted to be strong enough so they would let us see him before he go.”

Kato said she and her partner, Josh Row, were en route to pick Alex up from the veterinarian as she made the first post. A second post on Monday showed the couple saying goodbye to the beloved bunny back at home…
