Mega Mart is gearing up to open its largest Bay Area outpost in East Palo Alto.
Earlier this year, SFGATE reported that the Korean grocery store was headed to East Palo Alto at 1775 East Bayshore Road, but the store did not have a grand opening date announced at the time. Gon Lee, a marketing manager for Mega Mart, confirmed to SFGATE that the new store is slated to open in September and will be the largest Mega Mart in the region.
The new store is expected to span 50,000 square feet, surpassing the smaller Fremont site at 27,000 square feet and the Sunnyvale outpost, which is approximately 30,000 square feet. The size of the grocery store will allow the market to include a bakery, a Korean skin care section, and a new takeout counter called Pogu Picnic, which is not offered at other local Mega Mart stores…
