For several weeks, neighbors in the upper-Dimond neighborhood have been asking questions about a man who was found hanging from a tree, lifeless, just off the popular Bridgeview hiking trail.
The disturbing incident, which the Oakland Police Department believes was a suicide, has led some on social media to ask whether the man may have been murdered. One poster, noting that the man was Black, called it a “lynching.” On Nextdoor, others have posted about the tragedy, encouraging a public dialogue about what happened.
