A major grocery chain known for its specialty Filipino goods is slated to open a new Bay Area store this week.
On Thursday, the newest Seafood City location is expected to open in Daly City at 1420 Southgate Ave. The new addition marks the chain’s eighth storefront in Northern California, which includes Bay Area stores in Vallejo, Union City and nearby South San Francisco. In a news release, Matthew Go, the president of Seafood City, highlighted the significance of the company’s opening in Daly City, given the town’s vast Filipino population.
“Some might ask, ‘Why open in Daly City when there’s already a Seafood City in South San Francisco nearby?’” Go said in the statement. “Our answer is simple: because Daly City holds deep meaning for Filipino families. We’re not just opening another branch, we’re honoring a community that has supported us from the very beginning.”…
