‘Could be any one of us’: Family asks for help after loss of mother in San Mateo crash

(KRON) — A South San Francisco mother was killed last week after her car was broadsided by a red-light runner in San Mateo. Yina Marcela Ramos Bello, 30, leaves behind her two young boys, who were seriously injured in the July 31 crash, and her husband.

The two boys, ages 5 and 7, remain hospitalized in critical condition, family said on a verified GoFundMe page. Bello was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities responded to the crash at 6:17 p.m. on Alameda de las Pulgas near Highway 92. A preliminary investigation from the San Mateo Police Department indicated that a Ford SUV was exiting the highway, blew through a red light at Alameda, and broadsided the Toyota Prius that Bello and her children were in.

The driver of the Ford has only been identified at this time by authorities as a male. He was the sole occupant of his SUV and sustained minor injuries, SMPD said. Police confirmed on Friday that he was not driving impaired…
