Bay Area police stop stolen car using tire immobilization device

San Mateo police said they detained a driver after stopping a stolen car by using a tire immobilization device.

Officers began the chase after they were alerted to a stolen Lexus entering the city Friday night, according to the San Mateo Police Department. The officers used a device to flatten the vehicle’s tires, but the driver continued to flee, throwing a firearm out a window, police said.
