A high-speed street race in California ended with one driver in the hospital and another in police custody after a Corvette and Mustang collided in a dangerous contest on SR-99 near Standiford Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol in Modesto, the race took a catastrophic turn when 26-year-old Tyler K. Azadzoi of Citrus Heights lost control of his Corvette, rolling it several times before it came to rest on Sisk Road. The impact was so severe that Azadzoi was ejected from the car, suffering major injuries. His passenger, 28-year-old Ayesha Malik of Richmond, sustained minor injuries.
