A jury convicted a man of attacking a San Francisco police officer in the city’s United Nations Plaza, district attorney officials said Friday.
Jonathan Bissell, 31, was found guilty of battery on an officer and other charges for an incident that occurred around 1 a.m. on Aug. 31, 2023, when Bissell confronted a San Francisco Police Department officer who was on duty at U.N. Plaza. Bissell demanded the officer leave his post and threatened to assault him before tackling him to the ground, officials said.
According to evidence, footage and testimony presented at trial, Bissell approached the officer, told him he had 30 seconds to leave, and began counting down with his fists raised, officials said.
