More than 50 guns seized in less than a month: Oakland Police Department

(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department seized more than 50 guns and made multiple arrests for weapons violations in a span of 19 days, the department announced in a series of press releases.

From July 27 to July 31, Oakland police took 27 guns off the streets through various criminal investigations. Between Aug. 8 and Aug. 14, the department seized another 27 guns.

“The Oakland Police Department continues to work hard every day to make our community safer by holding those who commit violent crimes accountable,” OPD said.

On Aug. 11, OPD officers arrested a Suisun resident and seized a gun during a traffic stop. Two days later, officers arrested a suspect and seized “numerous” guns, gun parts and high-capacity magazines while serving a search warrant at a home in Oakland…
