Two face attempted murder in Tuesday morning SF Mission District robbery, shooting

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — An early Tuesday morning shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District that led to two arrests may have stemmed from a possible robbery, according to police.

San Francisco Police Department said its officers went to the area of 9th and Mission streets at 2:09 a.m. to investigate the report of a shooting but weren’t able to find any victims.

Police said witness tips soon helped them locate two potential suspects inside a nearby building on the 1300 block of Mission Street. One man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital while the other man was detained by police for questioning.

“While on scene, officers were advised by dispatch that a local hospital had a report of a walk in gunshot victim along with another male victim,” said SF police in a news release. “Officers responded and during the preliminary investigation, they learned that the victim was connected to the incident involving the two male subjects.  Officers also learned that the shooting may have stemmed from a possible robbery.”

Police said Gregory McDowell, 61, and Larry Ardoin, 67, both of San Francisco, were taken to county jail where they were booked on several charges, including attempted murder, second degree robbery, assault with a firearm, and wearing a mask or disguise to evade police.
