Convicted felon arrested in Vallejo for mail theft, firearm

(KRON) — A convicted felon was arrested Friday in Vallejo after a mail theft investigation led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, according to the Vallejo Police Department.

Vallejo officers were on the 700 block of Mini Drive when they saw a man littering pieces of mail as he sorted through it, police said. The area has been a recent target of reported mail thefts. The man continued to walk to a nearby parking lot while carrying stacks of mail.

The officers stopped the man for littering and noted the discarded mail was not addressed to him or associated with his listed residence, according to authorities. During the mail theft investigation, police found that the man was a convicted felon on probation out of Napa County for carrying a concealed firearm.

During a probation search, officers said they located a loaded, unserialized firearm, a high-capacity magazine, approximately 122 pills of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, and a large container of marijuana…
